Family Legacy

75 Years of the Barrientes-Gonzalez Tradition

Founded in 1950 by Justo Barrientes Sr., The Oyster Bar II is a testament to the simple power of fresh Gulf seafood. Today, Henry Gonzales carries that legacy forward with the same commitment to quality that made us a Brownsville staple. We don't just serve meals; we serve three generations of history.

A Taste of the Coast

Our Signature Menu

From our famous Prime Oyster Cocktails to the freshest Gulf Flounder caught daily, every plate is prepared using the Barrientes-Gonzalez family secrets that have made us a Brownsville staple since 1950.

So. Damn. Good. I got the half order of the fisherman’s platter and it was amazing! The fish was so fresh, and the batter on everything was awesome. I haven’t had seafood this delicious in forever. Our waitress was super lovely and very helpful, she was on top of drinks and everything came out super fast. I loved the rolls and I definitely want to return to try more of their menu. The manager was super nice and a really friendly individual as well. Worth the visit!

I’ve been going there since I was a kid in the early 90’s. It holds a special place in my heart. We got there close to closing, and were greeted like we were family. Mind you, I hadn’t eaten there in decades, and I’m so glad they’re still going strong! The blackened drum was super fresh and tasty, so were the stuffed shrimp and fried oysters.
